A man in his 70s suspected of killing an acquaintance at a temple in Seoul was arrested by the police.
On the 31st, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested Mr. A (72) on suspicion of murder.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of killing a woman in her 60s, Ms. B, at a restaurant inside a temple located on Suraksan Mountain in Nowon-gu, Seoul, at around 5:26 a.m. that day. It is reported that Mr. A struck Ms. B's head multiple times with a blunt weapon.
Mr. A surrendered by calling 112 immediately after the crime. The police arrested him 15 minutes after the incident occurred. It is known that Mr. A told the police he committed the crime because Ms. B had been harsh to him during his four years of volunteer work.
A police official stated, "We will ascertain the exact circumstances of the crime," and added, "We are reviewing whether to apply for an arrest warrant in the future."
