Sejong Telecom Creates ICT Synergy by Enhancing Connectivity Capabilities

In the era of digital platforms where all data is connected, a digital platform government roadmap is set to be announced soon, aiming to solve social issues and create new value together with the public, businesses, and government through full openness between system integration and data services. This marks the advent of the Internet of Everything era, where people, things, data, and processes are all fused, surpassing the Internet of Things (IoT) era.

Three years ago, at the company's 30th anniversary ceremony in 2020, a company declared itself an ‘IoE (Internet of Everything) enterprise’ that connects the world and grows through voluntary evolution, participation, supply, distribution, and sharing for sustainable innovation. Sejong Telecom, leading with two core businesses?telecommunications and electricity?and excelling in new businesses such as blockchain, 5G specialized networks, and security, is the protagonist.

Sejong Telecom Creates ICT Synergy by Enhancing Connectivity Capabilities

This year, Sejong Telecom is expanding its business portfolio into seven sectors: ▲Data (dedicated lines and networks) ▲Voice (voice and value-added services) ▲5G specialized networks ▲Mobile (MVNO) ▲Blockchain ▲Safety & Security ▲Electrical construction. In particular, it plans to promote synergy creation with new businesses like blockchain by strengthening its core telecommunications and connectivity capabilities.

Additionally, the company aims to solidify its position as a ‘company contributing to the world’ through business development aligned with its founding philosophy of ‘benefiting nature and humanity.’

Telecommunications & Connectivity 3.0... Securing Business Continuity and Contributing to DX Environment Creation

As digital transformation (DX) accelerates to ensure business continuity, the surge in new customer demand for dedicated lines and explosive growth in IP capacity needed to connect everything positively impacts the continuous growth of Sejong Telecom’s data business division.

Especially, with increasing large-scale investments from domestic and international investors and real estate developers in the data center market, which was once monopolized by telecom companies, Sejong Telecom is actively expanding partnerships with global telecommunications, infrastructure, and investment firms.

Most recently, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Empyrion DC, an eco-friendly data center developer, to build a Gangnam data center network hub.

The voice business division focuses on technology convergence, product advancement, and launching customer-tailored solutions in collaboration with platforms and small and medium-sized venture companies. In particular, following the AI call center solution launched last year that greatly supported small driver service providers, the company plans to continuously introduce services that support the digital transformation of small businesses lacking technology, experience, and resources in this hyper-competitive era, contributing to resolving social imbalances.

Sustainable Growth in Security & Electrical Construction Businesses... Realizing a Solid ‘Sejong Telecom 3.0’

Amid reports of massive personal data leaks and hacking incidents affecting companies since the beginning of the year, changes are also underway in Sejong Telecom’s security business.

With the surge in building Zero Trust security systems, ransomware security solutions like TroyCut, which have received positive responses from institutional and corporate clients, can proactively block malicious activities not directly input by users by utilizing PC operation principles and algorithms.

Sejong Telecom is also participating as a video security business partner in the ‘Green Smart Future School’ project, which aims to transform school buildings over 40 years old into future-oriented educational spaces. It plans to actively create future schools targeting five schools in the Chungnam region through a Build-Transfer-Lease (BTL) public-private partnership project.

Last year’s delivery of the ‘Smart Construction Safety Platform’ to Taeyoung Construction sites is expected to become an essential solution for industrial accident prevention and emergency measures in the first year of the Serious Accident Punishment Act enforcement. This one-stop solution integrates access control, CCTV, gas detection, and various sensors to comprehensively manage construction sites. Due to the nature of construction sites, it can be installed and used by leveraging Ethernet or wireless sensor networks.

The electrical business division, steadily generating operating profits since its acquisition and integration in 2018, plans to maintain its growth momentum while placing even greater emphasis on securing industrial safety, which is becoming increasingly important. It will focus on strengthening work environments to prevent accidents and recurrences. Additionally, in line with the company-wide ESG management activities, it will actively work to establish an environmentally friendly construction environment by minimizing construction waste and using eco-friendly materials.

Full-Scale Revenue Conversion of New Businesses such as Blockchain and 5G Specialized Networks

Sejong Telecom plans to not only achieve visible results but also open the path to profitability in its new business sectors this year.

Last year, Sejong Telecom conducted a pilot project to build a safety prevention platform based on a dedicated 5G specialized network for manufacturing companies in the Banwol-Sihwa Industrial Complex in Gyeonggi Province. This year, it aims to lead public and industrial safety prevention by expanding subscription-based safety services that approximately 20,000 small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in the industrial complex can adopt without burden.

Furthermore, it will accelerate the advancement of existing blockchain special zone projects and the development and monetization of linked business models, taking the lead in decentralized business based on Web 3.0.

Kim Hyung-jin, Chairman of Sejong Telecom, emphasized, “This year, along with responsible management by each business division head, we will secure competitiveness and profitability, and through connected businesses that benefit nature and humanity, which is also our founding philosophy, we will solidify our position as a company contributing to the world.”
