Jeonnam Fire Department Promotes Safety Measures for Successful Hosting of Suncheonman International Garden Expo

The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 30th that it will implement special fire safety measures to ensure the successful hosting of the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo.

First, during the festival period, a fire command post (CP) will be operated jointly with the Suncheon Fire Station to manage the situation at the venue and command control.

At the venue, three fire trucks and six firefighters will be permanently stationed daily, and on weekends, when a large number of visitors are expected, headquarters team-level commanders will support on-site operations.

Since many foreign visitors are expected from more than 30 countries, an interpretation call center will be operated to strengthen the response capability for foreigner reports.

The Fire Headquarters conducted special fire inspections this month on 52 designated businesses, including accommodations around the venue, and carried out fire safety inspections inside the expo site.

They have conducted joint drills for rescuing and providing first aid to multiple casualties to enhance initial disaster response capabilities, increased patrols at the venue day and night, and have been fully committed to ensuring safety at the event site.

Hong Young-geun, the Fire Headquarters Chief, visited the venue on the 23rd ahead of the opening ceremony to once again emphasize the thorough implementation of fire safety measures and prompt situation response.

Chief Hong stated, “We must closely cooperate with related organizations such as the organizing committee to prioritize the safety of tourists at the venue,” and added, “As this is an international event held in the province, we will strive for a successful event without any safety accidents.”
