According to major foreign media, President Erdo?an stated in an interview with a Turkish broadcaster that they are considering having President Putin attend the completion ceremony of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is under construction in G?lnar, Mersin Province in southern T?rkiye. The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is T?rkiye's first nuclear power plant and has been under construction by Rosatom, a Russian state-owned nuclear company, since 2018.

He said, "President Putin may come to the event starting on April 27," adding, "There is also a possibility of meeting online."

If this visit takes place, it will be the first time since the invasion of Ukraine in February last year that President Putin visits a region outside the former Soviet sphere. T?rkiye is also a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which provides military support to Ukraine.

President Erdo?an also expressed his intention to continue playing the role of mediator between Russia and Ukraine. He emphasized, "If it were not for our efforts over the past two years, the West would have dragged T?rkiye into a war with Russia," adding, "As long as we are in power, we will ensure that such a thing does not happen."
