[2023 Property Disclosure] Superintendent Average 1.84 Billion KRW... No.1 is Kang Eun-hee, Daegu City Superintendent

Increase of about 420 million KRW Compared to Last Year's Average

The average assets of the 16 metropolitan and provincial superintendents of education this year amounted to 1,842,187,000 KRW, with the highest being 12,576,189,000 KRW reported by Gang Eun-hee, Superintendent of Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education.


According to the 2023 public officials' asset changes disclosed on the 30th by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee, the average declared assets of the superintendents increased by 421,029,000 KRW from last year’s 1,421,158,000 KRW to 1,842,187,000 KRW.

As in the previous year, the superintendent with the highest assets was Gang Eun-hee of Daegu.


Superintendent Gang reported a total of 12,576,189,000 KRW, an increase of over 3.9 billion KRW from last year’s 8,619,066,000 KRW. She explained that this was due to the rise in per-share valuation of unlisted stocks she holds, sales of listed stocks, and changes in financial bond amounts.


The second highest asset declaration was by Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi-do Office of Education, who reported 4,695,168,000 KRW. His assets decreased by 49,705,000 KRW compared to last year’s 4,744,873,000 KRW.


Third place was Seol Dong-ho, Superintendent of Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, who declared 1,796,131,000 KRW, an increase of 152,939,000 KRW from last year’s 1,643,192,000 KRW.


Fourth place was Jo Hee-yeon, Superintendent of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, and fifth was Yoon Geon-young, Superintendent of Chungbuk Office of Education, with 1,506,046,000 KRW (an increase of 228,379,000 KRW) and 1,482,931,000 KRW (an increase of 1,065,288,000 KRW), respectively.


Lee Jeong-seon, Superintendent of Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, declared 1,432,555,000 KRW (an increase of 44,174,000 KRW), Kim Ji-cheol, Superintendent of Chungnam Office of Education, 1,239,666,000 KRW (an increase of 139,353,000 KRW), and Choi Gyo-jin, Superintendent of Sejong Office of Education, 1,086,989,000 KRW (a decrease of 18,323,000 KRW).


Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, declared 1,028,423,000 KRW (a decrease of 362,900,000 KRW), Kim Kwang-soo, Superintendent of Jeju Office of Education, 967,121,000 KRW (an increase of 44,832,000 KRW), Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Office of Education, 942,720,000 KRW (an increase of 85,999,000 KRW), and Park Jong-hoon, Superintendent of Gyeongnam Office of Education, 577,399,000 KRW (an increase of 76,319,000 KRW).


Do Seong-hoon, Superintendent of Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, declared 397,132,000 KRW (a decrease of 25,524,000 KRW), Shin Kyung-ho, Superintendent of Gangwon Office of Education, 371,738,000 KRW (a decrease of 450,679,000 KRW), Seo Geo-seok, Superintendent of Jeonbuk Office of Education, -59,227,000 KRW (an increase of 1,045,834,000 KRW), and Kim Dae-jung, Superintendent of Jeonnam Office of Education, -565,988,000 KRW (a decrease of 497,976,000 KRW).


Meanwhile, this year only the assets of 16 metropolitan and provincial superintendents of education were disclosed, as No Ok-hee, Superintendent of Ulsan Office of Education, passed away in December last year.
