Estimated Fire in Underground Karaoke Room...7 Self-Evacuated, 9 Rescued
A fire at a motel in downtown Gwangju was extinguished after about 1 hour and 30 minutes. No fatalities occurred from the fire, and 9 people were rescued by firefighters.

According to Gwangju Fire Department on the 29th, a report of a fire at an underground karaoke room in a motel in Wolsan-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City was received at around 6:49 PM that day.
It is known that 16 people, including the karaoke room owner, the motel owner, and guests, were inside the building at the time. Among them, 7 evacuated on their own, and 9 people, including 3 who evacuated to the rooftop, were rescued by firefighters.
The fire authorities estimate that the fire started in the underground karaoke room and plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once it is completely extinguished.
