Sang-geun Lee, Goseong County Governor, Seeks Ways to Revitalize Jaran-do Tourism

Benchmarking Advanced Sites in Sinan-gun, Jeonnam Area

Lee Sang-geun, the governor of Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, visited advanced sites in the Sinan-gun area of Jeonnam on the 29th to find ways to revitalize tourism on Jaran-do.

Jaran-do, shaped like a heart, boasts a large-scale natural pine forest and pristine sea areas, offering a natural environment blessed by nature. The county is working to develop this area into a representative marine healing tourism destination in Korea by establishing a ‘Marine Healing Center’ and a ‘Marine Healing Forest’.

In particular, to boost tourism on Jaran-do, plans are underway to build a marine pedestrian bridge to allow travel by land instead of by boat. This benchmarking trip was conducted to experience excellent cases ahead of the marine pedestrian bridge project, to identify strengths and weaknesses, and to explore ways to apply and improve the project in Goseong-gun.
