[Special Stock] SAT ENG Expected to Fully Supply Secondary Battery Separator Additives... Subsidiary Value Up

SATIENG is showing strong performance. The expectation that its subsidiary Eco Chemical will begin full-scale mass production of ceramic separator additives (CEPV) appears to be influencing the stock price.

As of 11:27 AM on the 29th, SATIENG is trading at 5,060 KRW, up 15.92% from the previous day.

Eco Chemical explained in its shareholders' meeting agenda statement that it is currently conducting reliability tests on a new CEPV model with company L, and recently finalized and is in the process of signing the delivery specifications. It added that stock options will be granted to management to ensure a successful launch.

On the same day, a media outlet reported that Eco Chemical has completed the development of a separator coating additive containing cyanoethyl groups with high dielectric constant, and demonstrated that even a small amount improves dispersibility. It confirmed that the adhesion between the separator and electrode is improved, enabling stable ceramic coating, and stated that it will supply products with adjustable molecular weight and substitution rate according to customer demand.

SATIENG entered the secondary battery business in 2015 and spun off the business division into its subsidiary Eco Chemical in 2019. SATIENG holds a 46.6% stake in Eco Chemical. Eco Chemical is developing ceramic-coated separator binders and aqueous anode binders.

Binder materials serve to bond active materials and conductive agents to the current collector in secondary battery electrodes. When the binder amount is low but adhesion is strong, it contributes to electrochemical stability and overall battery quality improvement. This directly or indirectly affects the lifespan of batteries for electric vehicles or ESS.

If the separator is damaged and the cathode and anode come into direct contact, rapid chemical reactions can cause ignition. To prevent this, ceramic materials are coated on both sides of PE/PP composite separators to improve mechanical strength and heat resistance. Using general materials results in poor dispersibility and adhesion, making uniform coating on the separator difficult. However, by using a small amount of the high dielectric coating additive developed by SATIENG, dispersibility and adhesion between the separator and electrode are improved, enabling stable ceramic coating.
