Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do is actively expanding sports infrastructure to support citizens' sports life and revitalize professional sports marketing.

According to the county on the 29th, the sports facilities to be constructed this year include three locations: the 2nd Sports Town, the Complex Sports Culture Center, and the Neighborhood Sports Gym in Gugyo District, with a total investment of 38.3 billion KRW.

First, the 2nd Sports Town will be developed on an 8.8-hectare site in Pyeonghwal-ri, Samsan-myeon, with a total investment of 18.1 billion KRW, including 4.3 billion KRW from provincial funds. The county plans to start construction in the first half of this year, aiming for completion by December next year.

The 2nd Sports Town will consist of one regulation-size soccer field, one baseball field, one multipurpose stadium, and auxiliary facilities.

With a large-scale Sports Town already established and successfully operating within Useul Sports Park, Haenam-gun has been promoting the development of the 2nd Sports Town to meet the increasing demand and revitalize sports marketing.

In particular, the 2nd Sports Town will be located near Samsan-myeon, an area dense with accommodations and restaurants, just about five minutes from Daheungsa Temple and nearby lodging facilities. This location is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy during the winter season as well as boosting tourism in connection with the Minam Festival.

The Complex Sports Culture Center, scheduled for completion next year, will be built on a site in Sinan-ri, Haenam-eup, with an investment of 13.8 billion KRW. It will be a two-story building (one basement floor and one above ground) with a total floor area of 2,540 square meters. The center will combine a sports gym specialized for people with disabilities and a small library to create a sports and cultural space where both disabled and non-disabled people can enjoy together.

In Gugyo-ri, Haenam-eup, an area densely populated with apartments but lacking sports facilities, a 6.4 billion KRW investment will be made to build a gymnasium and a youth counseling center with a total floor area of 2,990 square meters as part of a Life SOC complex project. This space will be used for community sports activities, cultural and artistic events, and as an emergency shelter.

County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan said, “We are accelerating the expansion of sports infrastructure to broaden the base of citizens' sports activities and strengthen sports marketing. We will make every effort to ensure the smooth progress of these projects and create conditions that allow various demands from citizens and professional athletes to be met through sports activities.”
