90% Insurance Premium Support, Farmers Bear Only 10%
The Goseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center in Gyeongnam is promoting the "Crop Disaster Insurance Premium Support Project" to alleviate management instability caused by crop disasters and to stabilize the management and income of farmers.
Crop disaster insurance is a government policy insurance that compensates for damages caused by natural disasters such as typhoons (strong winds), hail, heavy rain, frost damage, earthquakes, as well as tidal damage (animal damage) and fire, according to item-specific terms and conditions.
The county supports up to 90% of the insurance premium to increase the subscription rate for this insurance, allowing farmers to enjoy the benefits of crop disaster insurance by paying only 10% of the premium.
The items available for subscription this month include agricultural facilities, facility crops (23 types including strawberries, tomatoes, pumpkins, paprika, and chives), mushroom cultivation houses, and mushroom crops. Subscriptions can be made at nearby local Nonghyup branches until December 1.
Lee Su-won, Director of the Agricultural Technology Division, said, "Crop disaster insurance provides a minimum level of relief, so subscribing to insurance to prepare for large-scale disasters will greatly help stabilize farm management. Also, facilities such as vinyl greenhouses and mushroom cultivation houses may temporarily suspend sales depending on weather conditions like typhoons, so we earnestly urge prompt subscription."
For more details, contact the Fruit and Flower Division of the Goseong-gun Agricultural Technology Department, NH Nonghyup Insurance, or local Nonghyup branches.
Meanwhile, last year, Goseong-gun supported insurance premiums totaling 3.83 billion KRW for 3,861 farms covering 4,136 hectares.
