Visiting Major Cities Nationwide to Create 'Wish Tree' for Hosting Support

The ‘Expo Dream Expedition Team,’ which will carry the hopes of the entire nation for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo, is embarking on a nationwide tour.

Busan City announced that the ‘Expo Dream Expedition Team’ will begin its nationwide tour on the 29th and hold a departure ceremony at 9 a.m. on the same day at the City Hall Citizen Plaza to mark the occasion.

The Expo Dream Expedition Team will use a promotional truck equipped with video and audio facilities for the 2030 Busan World Expo, visiting major cities across the country to conduct various programs to wish for the successful bid.

This initiative was prepared to gather the nationwide hopes for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo and to further boost the enthusiasm for the bid ahead of the onsite inspection by the International Bureau of Expositions scheduled for early April.

From March 29 to April 6, the team will visit key locations in cities in the following order: Daegu (3.29), Seoul (3.30), Suncheon (3.31), Gwangju (4.1), Daejeon (4.2), Seoul (4.3), and Busan (4.4?4.6). They also plan to attend events held in some of these locations in celebration of the International Bureau of Expositions’ onsite inspection.

The specific programs include ▲ 2030 Busan World Expo OX Quiz ▲ Expo Cheer Song Flash Mob ▲ Making a Wish Tree to pray for the successful bid of the 2030 Busan World Expo ▲ Catering by Busan’s representative coffee brand, Momos Coffee.

In particular, the Wish Tree making program involves local residents writing messages expressing their hopes for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid and attaching them to the ‘So One Tree’ on the promotional truck. Through this nationwide tour, it is expected that the hopes of the entire nation for the 2030 Busan World Expo will be gathered in one place.

About 90 people, including Mayor Park Hyung-jun, National Assembly Special Committee Chair for the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Park Jae-ho, and Executive Chair of the Pan-Citizen Bid Committee Park Eun-ha, will attend the departure ceremony marking the official start of the Expo Dream Expedition Team.

The event will proceed in the order of ▲ Report on the operation plan of the Expo Dream Expedition Team ▲ Commemorative, cheering, and prayer speeches ▲ Wish Tree attachment ceremony. Notably, the promotional truck specially made for the ‘Expo Dream Expedition Team’ will be unveiled for the first time at the departure ceremony.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “With the upcoming onsite inspection by the International Bureau of Expositions, it is a crucial time to have a nationwide desire to host the 2030 Busan World Expo.” He added, “We will actively support the activities of the Expo Dream Expedition Team so that the hopes of all citizens wishing for the 2030 World Expo Busan bid can be fully conveyed to the inspection team of the International Bureau of Expositions.”
