Changwon Special City Launches 7th Youth Policy Committee

Starting Hope and Challenge with the Youth Policy Report Meeting

On the 28th at 2 PM, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2023 Youth Policy Committee Appointment Ceremony and Regular Meeting' in the council's main conference room.

The meeting was attended by over 30 people, including Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, youth representatives, experts from related organizations, and relevant public officials.

The Youth Policy Committee serves as an official communication channel between Changwon City and its youth and performs deliberation and resolution functions for establishing youth policies. It was launched in 2016 under the 'Changwon City Youth Basic Ordinance' and is now in its 7th term.

During the meeting, the city conducted the appointment ceremony for the 7th Youth Policy Committee and introduced major youth policies of Changwon City, including projects for creating youth jobs linked to new industries, support for youth transportation expenses, and the establishment of a youth information platform. The city also reported on the first quarter progress of the 2023 Changwon Youth Policy implementation plan. Following this, committee members shared various opinions on youth policies.

The Youth Policy Committee members stated, "One of the goals of the 8th elected administration is to realize the dreams and hopes of youth. We ask for generous support for the dreams of Changwon's youth going forward. The Youth Policy Committee members will also do their best to provide support."

Mayor Hong said, "Youth are the agents responsible for the nation's future. We will strive to fully understand and resolve the economic and social stability issues faced by youth." He added, "To this end, we will listen to the voices of youth and promote policies that youth can truly feel."

As part of Mayor Hong Nampyo's campaign promises, the city established the Youth Policy Division, a dedicated department for youth policy, last October. This division serves as the control tower for promoting youth policies in Changwon City and is accelerating the establishment of cooperative systems among youth, local communities, and departments.
