Operating Visiting Korean Classes for Elderly with Mobility Difficulties
The Jangdong-myeon Community Security Council in Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (co-chairmen Lee Seong-heum and Moon Su-yeon) held the entrance ceremony for the 'Ddobak Ddobak Hangeul Class' at Jingok Senior Center in Jangdong-myeon on the 27th.
According to the county on the 28th, the 'Ddobak Ddobak Hangeul Class' is a visiting literacy education program selected as a 2023 project by the Jangheung-gun Nanum Welfare Foundation. It will be held twice a week until the end of October.
It was planned to improve the quality of life for elderly people who experience daily inconveniences due to lack of learning opportunities, and to provide various opportunities for social activities such as color sense, creativity training, and memory enhancement through coloring play.
In particular, to enhance convenience for elderly participants with mobility difficulties, the instructor visits the senior centers to conduct the classes, receiving great responses from participants.
At the entrance ceremony, 13 participants of the Hangeul class, along with co-chairmen of the Community Security Council, the president of the Prosperity Association, and heads of local organizations in Jangdong-myeon attended to encourage the students by presenting entrance gifts such as textbooks, bags, and stationery sets.
Co-chairman Lee Seong-heum stated, “Age is just a number when it comes to learning. I salute the elderly who participate in the Hangeul class with passion for learning,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to help the elderly live healthy and happy lives in their later years.”
