Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 28th that it will hold the ‘2nd Boom-up Festival for the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo’ at the Yi Sun-sin Plaza area on the 3rd of next month.
The city plans to hold the Boom-up Festival annually until the opening of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, following last year, to promote the Islands Expo and create a pre-event atmosphere with citizens, aiming for the successful hosting of the Expo.

Planned as a media-utilized exhibition-type festival, this ‘Boom-up Festival’ will start at 10 a.m. on the 3rd of next month. The commemorative ceremony held at Yi Sun-sin Plaza at 1:30 p.m. will be followed by a performance wishing for the success of the Islands Expo, and various programs will be available until 5 p.m.
In addition, the Pan-Citizen Preparatory Committee, launched last month, will participate in island village promotion and exhibition booths to provide a time for communication and empathy, and visitors can also see the award-winning works from the Yeosu Island photo and video contest.
Other experiential events include ▲making snow globes ▲creating Islands Expo pin buttons ▲making handkerchiefs, which are expected to greatly enhance the on-site atmosphere.
A city official said, “This event is being prepared as a festival with citizens to unite citizen capabilities and spread consensus for the hosting of the Islands Expo,” adding, “We will continue to make multifaceted efforts to promote the Yeosu World Islands Expo.”
