Recently, about 30 members of the Uiryeong County Office soccer club visited their sister city, Muan County, and delivered Hometown Love Donations to support Muan County.
The donation ceremony was attended by key officials including Kim San, the head of Muan County, and the president of the Muan County soccer club, who warmly welcomed the Uiryeong County soccer club.
Earlier, on the 16th, the Muan County Office soccer club also visited Uiryeong County Office, expressing their intention to deliver Hometown Love Donations while wishing for the early establishment and success of the Hometown Love Donation system. According to Muan County, as of the 28th, the donation goal has been achieved and only the delivery schedule is being coordinated.
Uiryeong County introduced the ‘2023?2024 Year of Visiting Uiryeong’ and the newly launched ‘Hongui General Festival’ starting this year, seeking promotional cooperation from Muan County. Muan County requested Uiryeong County to encourage joining the ‘Jeonnam Sarangae (Love) Supporters’.
Since signing the sister city agreement in 1998, Uiryeong County and Muan County have maintained ‘friendly exchanges’ for over 20 years. Notably, last year, Muan County made a large-scale visit to the ‘Rich Rich Festival’ held for the first time in Uiryeong County, and Uiryeong County sent a congratulatory delegation to Muan County’s Lotus Festival, deepening their friendship as sister cities.
In particular, the soccer clubs of Uiryeong County Office and Muan County Office have been regularly holding friendly soccer matches since 1991, mainly composed of employees, sharing affection and fostering harmony. These soccer clubs are regarded as exemplary cases of inter-local government exchange, laying the foundation for the development of sister cities.
Kang Changhae, president of the Uiryeong County Office soccer club, said, “We are grateful for Muan County’s hospitality. It is truly joyful that a bond united by a single ball has lasted this long,” adding, “We hope that Uiryeong County and Muan County will continue to showcase their unique tiki-taka and remain reliable partners who depend on each other.”
