Daegu City will hold the opening ceremony of the ‘Dalgubeol Women’s Startup Incubation Center (Dalgubeol-daero, Seo-gu)’ on the 28th to provide comprehensive customized startup support services in response to the increasing demand for women’s entrepreneurship, and will begin full-scale operations.
The city utilized the vacant space of the Dalgubeol Women’s Human Resources Development Center to create a women’s startup incubation space that will play a pivotal role and function in discovering, nurturing, and growing women entrepreneurs. The space was completed in February, leading to the opening of the Dalgubeol Women’s Startup Incubation Center.
The Women’s Startup Incubation Center was funded by the Local Extinction Response Fund (1 billion KRW over 5 years) aimed at strengthening the regional women’s startup support infrastructure and enhancing social vitality through population inflow. It was designed as a space capable of providing one-stop services for each stage of startup, including residential spaces, collaboration spaces, and support facilities.
The residential space can accommodate up to 20 companies as office space for prospective and early-stage startups. The collaboration space, designed as a startup caf?-type area, supports club activities for prospective entrepreneurs as well as networking for resident and graduated companies. Support facilities include project rooms and prototype production rooms, enabling both individual and joint work.
Currently, 13 women-led startup companies, selected through an open recruitment process, are residing in the residential space and are carrying out projects to create success stories.
Going forward, the Dalgubeol Women’s Startup Incubation Center plans to provide incubation programs for women entrepreneurs in the prospective and early stages, offer expert consultations tailored to each startup phase, support commercialization projects, and link with programs that assist with difficulties encountered in technology commercialization after startup. This is expected to enable comprehensive startup support services for women aspiring to start businesses.
At the opening ceremony, the Dalgubeol Women’s Startup Incubation Center and the Daegu Center of the Women’s Enterprise Comprehensive Support Center (Director Lee Seong-wol, current head of the Daegu branch of the Women’s Economic Association) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). They agreed to cooperate mutually in discovering (prospective) entrepreneurs and supporting the growth of startup companies to revitalize women’s economic activities in the Daegu region.
Jo Kyung-seon, Director of the Youth and Women’s Education Bureau of Daegu City, said, “Daegu City has consistently worked to promote women’s entrepreneurship through support for startup academies and hosting startup competitions. With the opening of the ‘Dalgubeol Women’s Startup Incubation Center,’ we will be able to provide systematic services from the early stages of startup through growth and settlement.”
