The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will hold the '2023 Gyeonggi-do Firefighting Skills Competition,' where various firefighting techniques are contested to enhance the disaster response capabilities of firefighters in fire and rescue operations. The event will take place over four days from the 28th to the 31st of this month at the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy located in Yongin.
This year's firefighting skills competition will feature 159 firefighters representing each fire station competing in five categories: Best Firefighter, Fire Tactics, Rescue Tactics, Emergency Medical Tactics (Advanced Resuscitation and Mass Casualty Response Tactics), and Life Safety (Vehicle Door Opening and Animal Capture).
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters will aggregate scores by category to select five fire stations: one grand prize winner, two excellence awardees, and two encouragement awardees, who will receive commendations from the Governor. Additionally, the top performers in each category, including the Best Firefighter, will represent Gyeonggi-do at the National Firefighting Skills Competition to be held in June.
Jo Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "We will actively support the participants so that they can fully demonstrate the skills they have honed without any safety incidents during the competition."
