Actor Yoo Ah-in (real name Eom Hong-sik), who is accused of drug use, expressed his position on the 27th, saying, "I deeply reflect on causing great disappointment to many people who have loved me."
Yoo made these remarks to reporters after being questioned for about 12 hours at the Drug Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in Mapo-gu, Seoul, around 9:20 p.m. that day.
Coming out of the investigation as a suspect, Yoo responded to the question, "Do you admit to the drug use charges?" by saying, "I told the facts that I could reveal during the investigation as they are." He added, "I think I was trapped in a wrong swamp under the self-rationalization that my deviant behaviors did not harm anyone."
Furthermore, he said, "It must be very uncomfortable to see me, but I want to take these moments as an opportunity to live healthier moments that I have never experienced before," and bowed his head again, saying, "I am truly sorry for disappointing you."
Yoo is suspected of habitual drug use. The National Forensic Service recently notified the police of the detailed test results showing positive reactions for four types of drugs?marijuana, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine?from Yoo’s hair and other samples. Earlier, on the 5th of last month, the police executed a body search warrant on Yoo Ah-in at Incheon International Airport. At that time, a preliminary urine test confirmed a positive reaction to marijuana, and a detailed analysis was requested from the National Forensic Service. Hair analysis can confirm drug use for up to one year depending on the length of the hair.
Searches and seizures were also conducted at Yoo’s residence and other locations. On the 7th, the police carried out searches and seizures at two places, including Yoo’s residence. On the 15th, they summoned Yoo’s travel companion to the United States and his manager as witnesses for questioning.
