The name of professional baseball player Seo Jun-won (former Lotte Giants), who has been indicted on charges of producing child sexual exploitation material, will be removed from the 'List of High School Choi Dong-won Award Winners.'
On the 27th, the Choi Dong-won Memorial Association unanimously decided, including Chairman Jo Woo-hyun and six other board members, to revoke Seo Jun-won's receipt of the 1st High School Choi Dong-won Award. Seo Jun-won received the 1st High School Choi Dong-won Award in 2018 while attending Gyeongnam High School. At that time, the Choi Dong-won Memorial Association awarded Seo Jun-won, the inaugural recipient of the High School Choi Dong-won Award, a scholarship of 3 million won.
Earlier, Seo Jun-won was indicted without detention in August last year on charges of producing child and adolescent sexual exploitation material by coercing a minor victim, whom he met online, to take and send nude photos. Seo Jun-won did not inform his team during police and prosecution investigations. Upon confirming on the 23rd that Seo Jun-won's charges involved a minor sexual crime, the Lotte Giants immediately released him.
