Strengthening Capabilities Ahead of the First Outcome in Establishing Overseas Public Libraries
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 27th that it will hold a training session for the administrators of the Hanoi Municipal Library in Vietnam, which is about to open. As it supported the construction, it aims to strengthen the administrators' capabilities as well.
As part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) project, the Ministry supports the establishment of overseas public libraries. The Hanoi Municipal Library, which will open on the 18th of next month, is the first result. It led the remodeling of the lobby, reading rooms, multipurpose auditorium, and open lounge, and installed a Korean materials center. Various equipment and content were also provided.
Six administrators, including deputy directors, will participate in the five-day, four-night training program (from the 27th to the 31st). They will visit seven excellent domestic libraries, including the National Library of Korea, to share library culture and work trends, and receive education on ways to strengthen operational capabilities. They will also experience various K-culture activities at places such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Jeonju Hanok Village.
A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official said, "We plan to establish a foundation for cultural exchange and cooperation for the development of libraries in Korea and Vietnam," adding, "We will actively promote Korea's excellent library services and policies."
