Art Experience Education for Elementary Students: Classical, Musical, Ballet, and More
Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 27th that it will operate classical performances and various educational content programs tailored to the perspective of children, the future audience.
Since 2015, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts has introduced classical educational content through the 'Sejong Children’s Series,’ which includes ▲ the classical performance ‘Sejong Children’s Series I - Orchestra Journey’ where children can enjoy and learn ▲ the arts education program ‘Children’s Art Exploration Team’ that allows children to experience classical music, musicals, tap dance, ballet, and more ▲ the ‘Stage Effects Experience Program’ where children can experience stage lighting and sound effects.
Specially produced 3D animations are also featured to help children enjoy the music more entertainingly. Various three-dimensional characters appear on a giant screen, adding vitality to the performance.
Conductor Lee Byung-wook, beloved by performers for his excellent musical communication, and the Ditto Orchestra will present delicate and high-quality performances. Additionally, pianists Lee Hyo-joo and Ilya Rashkovsky, who have swept domestic and international prestigious competitions, will perform piano melodies from ‘The Carnival of the Animals.’
Before the main performance, a mini lecture will be held to make the concert easier and more enjoyable to watch. The mini lecture, introducing the orchestra’s instrument arrangement, how to appreciate classical performances, and audience etiquette, will be hosted by announcer Jin Yang-hye. Furthermore, Sejong Center will provide the audience with an orchestra travel guide ‘Edu Book’ developed in-house to help children better understand the performance.
The ‘Children’s Art Exploration Team’ is designed to offer children various experiences by adding active genres such as dance, singing, and live performances. Especially, professional artists from the field, including members of the Universal Ballet, vocalists, classical musicians, and musical actors, participate as instructors to help children develop cultural capabilities and creative artistic sensitivity.
The newly established ‘Ballet Exploration Life’ this year is a special ballet experience program where children who are new to ballet as well as those currently learning can all participate. With fun explanations, children can watch ballet demonstrations by members of the Universal Ballet up close and learn ballet by trying on ballet costumes.
At the Dream Forest Art Center, starting in May, the ‘Stage Effects Experience Program’ will be held, allowing participants to directly experience lighting and sound effects used in performances. It offers opportunities to learn and experience stage lighting effects using light and shadow, related equipment, sound movement, reflection, and resonance.
The Stage Effects Experience Program is open to anyone from elementary school students to adults who are interested in theater performances and stage arts. Detailed information is available on the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts website.
