Lecture on Tourism Industry Outlook and Development Strategies
On the 24th, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that it held the 359th Boseong Autonomous Forum by inviting Kim Hyung-woo, director of the Korean Peninsula Culture and Tourism Research Institute.
This forum was held under the theme "Prospects and Development Plans for Boseong's Tourism Industry in the Post-COVID Era," and Director Kim gave a lecture on the prospects and development directions of Boseong's tourism business.
In particular, Kim Hyung-woo, director of the Korean Peninsula Culture and Tourism Research Institute, explained mid- to long-term tourism revitalization strategies such as how to adapt to the changing tourism industry environment and how to target niche markets to attract tourists.
He also proposed measures to revitalize the attraction of foreign tourists through foreigner incentive programs, multilingual map production, and pre-inspection trips (fam tours), as well as the development of tourism products utilizing core content such as green tea fields, Boseong’s mudflats and sea, and local specialties.
Director Kim emphasized, “Tourism is an area that stimulates economic revitalization and creates a happy daily life for individuals. It is necessary to accurately understand consumer desires and strengthen competitiveness as a distinctive tourist destination.” He added, “Promotion marketing using regional representative landmarks both online and offline and the development of products where tourists can stay are needed.”
Kim Cheol-woo, mayor of Boseong-gun, said, “This autonomous forum was a valuable time to think together about becoming an innovative leader in the tourism market based on Boseong-gun’s unique and attractive tourism resources.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to lead the global tourism market proactively by maximizing the use of Boseong-gun’s tourism resources.”
Meanwhile, Director Kim Hyung-woo is a tourism industry expert who has served as an adjunct professor at Hanyang University Graduate School of International Tourism, an adjunct professor at Kyung Hee University Graduate School of Tourism, an advisory committee member for the Suncheonman International Garden Expo, and a public relations ambassador for Boseong-gun.
