Spring Flower Decoration, Hanyeong University Filial Piety Foot Washing Ceremony Held
The flower planting volunteer service by the LG Chem Hwaseong Products Plant volunteer group in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, has been continuing for seven years, adding warmth to the local community.
According to Yeosu City, on the 23rd, over 80 people including the LG Chem Hwaseong Products Plant volunteer group and students from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Hanyeong University participated in a volunteer activity planting more than 3,000 spring flowers at the historic site of ‘The Place Where Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s Mother Lived.’

The volunteers who participated that day planted colorful spring flowers such as cotton, pansies, and carnations, expressing ‘a mother’s affection’ and signaling the arrival of spring at the historic site.
As in the previous year, six parents of Hanyeong University students were invited to attend, and a foot-washing ceremony along with a letter reading session dedicated to the parents was held at this historically significant location.
Joo Jae-gu, Executive Director and head of the LG Chem Hwaseong Products Plant volunteer group, said, “Through this volunteer work, I feel great fulfillment knowing that the youth who will lead the future have developed a spirit of preserving cultural heritage, filial piety, and a heart for service.”
Jeong Ki-myung, Mayor of Yeosu, who made a surprise visit to the foot-washing ceremony that day, expressed his deep gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank the LG Chem Hwaseong Products Plant volunteer group and Hanyeong University students for volunteering despite the rainy and harsh weather,” and added, “We will do our best to operate city administration for the happiness of citizens and the bright future of the youth.”
Meanwhile, the LG Chem Hwaseong Products Plant volunteer group has also been leading community return projects through monthly volunteer activities, including delivering home appliances to two senior centers in Hwayang-myeon in February this year.
