SK Siltron Joins Global Earth Hour Campaign to Turn Off Lights Worldwide

Turning Off Lights at All Workplaces for One Hour on the 25th

SK Siltron announced on the 27th that it participated in the global Earth Hour campaign to address the global climate crisis on the 25th.

Earth Hour is a global climate crisis response campaign organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), a nonprofit nature conservation organization, which started in Australia in 2007. Various entities voluntarily turn off their lights for one hour on the last Saturday evening of March every year to raise awareness of the seriousness of climate change worldwide. So far, over 18,000 landmarks in 190 countries have participated.

SK Siltron has been participating in this campaign for three consecutive years since 2021. This year, on Saturday the 25th, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, all lights inside and outside the headquarters’ facilities in Gumi (factories 1 to 3) and the Seoul office building were turned off for one hour.

An SK Siltron official said, “We deeply empathize with the importance of responding to the global climate crisis and will actively engage in various environmental, social, and governance (ESG) campaigns along with the Earth Hour campaign. Through continuous carbon emission reduction activities, we will provide differentiated value to our domestic and international customers.”

SK Siltron has enhanced its ESG management system by concretizing a long-term roadmap, declaring Net Zero 2040 and 2040 RE100 (100% renewable energy use). It is also strengthening its execution capabilities by securing global initiatives such as Carbon Trust carbon reduction certification and zero waste landfill certification.

Last month, SK Siltron became the first in the wafer industry to be recognized for its ESG management level by the global project Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), receiving the highest grade of 'Leadership A' in the climate change response category and 'Leadership A-' in the water management category.
