Defending champion Scheffler lost by one hole to world No. 15 Sam Burns (USA) in the semifinals of the World Golf Championships (WGC) Series Dell Technologies Match Play (total prize money $20 million) held on the morning of the 26th (local time) at Austin Country Club (par 71, 7,108 yards) in Austin, Texas, USA.

Scheffler was trailing by one hole but leveled the match with a birdie on the final 18th hole (par 4). However, he lost the match to Burns, who made a birdie on the 21st hole. Scheffler missed the chance for his third win of the season and seventh career victory, as well as a consecutive title defense at the tournament.

McIlroy also bowed out by one hole to world No. 17 Cameron Young (USA). McIlroy was leading by one hole but lost the 18th hole, allowing the match to go into extra holes. He then lost the ticket to the final to Young, who made a birdie on the 19th hole. McIlroy had recorded one win this season and 23 career victories.
