On the 26th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced the appointment of Kwon Young-gul, Chairman of the Seoul Design Foundation, as the new chairman of the 7th National Architecture Policy Committee (hereinafter referred to as the NAPC). His term will begin on the 27th and last for two years.
Chairman Kwon is an expert in urban public design with experience in various fields such as spatial design, landscaping, and architecture. He is highly regarded for his significant contributions to the development of urban design in Korea through research, writing, and public projects aimed at improving the quality of life and advancing architectural and urban design.

Seventeen private members to serve on the NAPC were also appointed. Recommended by local governments, public institutions, academic societies, and associations, these experts possess extensive academic knowledge and practical experience in diverse fields including architecture, urban planning, and landscaping. The group consists of 10 members from academia and 7 members related to design and architecture.
The members include Professor Kim Gae-cheon of the Department of Spatial Design at Kookmin University, Kim Gyu-rin, CEO of Joheun Architects, Professor Kim Se-hoon of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University, Professor Kim Jong-heon of the Department of Architecture at Paichai University, Professor Kim Hyun-sun of the Graduate School of International Design at Hongik University, Professor Park Sung-shin of the Department of Architectural Engineering at Gunsan University, Son Jin-rak, CEO of Hwaseong Architects, Professor Ahn Yong-han of the Department of Architecture at Hanyang University ERICA Campus, Yoo Yi-hwa, Chairman of the Itami Jun Architecture Culture Foundation, Lee In-hwa, CEO of Dowon Architects, Professor Jung Jin-guk, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Architecture at Hanyang University, Professor Cho Kyung-jin of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University, Professor Cho Se-hwan, Emeritus Professor of the Graduate School of Urban Studies at Hanyang University, Professor Cho Seung-gu of the Department of Architecture at Dongmyung University, and Professor Han Kwang-ya of the Department of Architectural Engineering at Dongguk University.
These private members will play a role in strengthening the committee’s capabilities to enhance the quality of the nation’s future spaces and land environment through architecture, urban planning, and landscape design, and will promote creative innovation through convergence.
Chairman Kwon stated, "I will actively develop architectural and urban environment policies for new future spaces that reflect the lives of the people," adding, "I will communicate with the public regarding representative urban spaces symbolizing the nation and closely coordinate with relevant ministries and related organizations to carry out these tasks."
