Feel the Full Scent of Spring While Driving Along the Coastal Road
Over 4,200 marathon runners from across the country ran along the coastal road with cherry blossoms at the 3·15 Haeyang Nuri Park held in Changwon Special City, fully embracing the spring atmosphere.
Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 26th that the "30th 3·15 Marathon" was successfully held.
This event featured a course starting from 3·15 Haeyang Nuri Park, running along Dream Bay Road to the end and back, covering distances of 10 km and 5 km. With over 4,200 participants registered, people from all over the country visited our city to enjoy the spring in Changwon.
The 3·15 Marathon is an event hosted by the 3·15 Uprising Memorial Association and organized by the 3·15 Marathon Preparation Committee. It commemorates the March 15 Uprising, which is the foundation and starting point of South Korea's modern democratization movement that defended freedom and democracy. The marathon is held every March in Masan to honor the spirit of 3·15, based on freedom, democracy, and justice.
Especially this year, the event was held for the first time in three years due to the easing of COVID-19 quarantine measures, raising great expectations. Participants enjoyed the coastal road course, feeling the spring sea breeze and the charm of the cherry blossom weekend.
Additionally, with many dignitaries from institutions and companies attending, the marathon was enriched by splendid performances from the Navy Honor Guard and military band, as well as various experience booths.
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “I congratulate the successful hosting of the 3·15 Marathon, which inherits the noble values and spirit of the 3·15 Uprising, the greatest history and pride of our region.” He added, “I hope all participants complete the race safely without accidents in this perfect season for running and enjoy the beautiful spring of our city together.”
