"I Jae-myung Encourages While Neglecting His Devoted Daughter"
The People Power Party launched a full-scale offensive against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointing out issues such as judicial risks and the hardcore fandom known as 'Gaeddal'.
Yoo Sang-beom, chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the 26th, "The media expects that Leader Lee will appear in court every week from now on," adding, "Due to Leader Lee's greater interest in 'trials' than in 'people's livelihood,' the Democratic Party is drifting away from the people's livelihood."
Yoo criticized, "If the judicial risks that Leader Lee faces, including illegal presidential election fund acceptance, the Ssangbangwool lawyer fee payment case, illegal remittances to North Korea, and preferential treatment in the Baekhyeon-dong and Jeongja-dong development projects, which have not yet led to indictment, accumulate, he could become a 'court commuter' who commutes to the court more than to the National Assembly."
He also said, "On the 20th, Leader Lee posted on his SNS the trial records of his close aide Lee Hwa-young, former Deputy Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province, who is on trial for allegedly accepting bribes from the Ssangbangwool Group, but deleted them after controversy arose," adding, "This was an act born out of Leader Lee's impatience to sway public opinion by revealing trial records that he thought would be favorable to himself. It's like a thief feeling guilty."
Kim Ye-ryeong, spokesperson for the People Power Party, also pointed out the issue of Leader Lee's hardcore fandom in a commentary. She criticized, "Yesterday, Leader Lee posted on his SNS asking 'to refrain from internal attacks' directed at the 'Gaeddal,' but this also seems like a 'showing off' by Leader Lee," adding, "In the past, the Democratic Party had opportunities to sever ties with the 'Gaeddal,' but Leader Lee rather secretly welcomed their active involvement and even encouraged them."
Kim said, "Leader Lee claimed to be the 'Gaeddal' dad and used the hardcore fandom to win the by-election in Incheon Gyeyang District and the party leadership election," adding, "Recently, when the motion to arrest Leader Lee was narrowly rejected due to defections from the Democratic Party, the 'Gaeddal' even created wanted posters to identify the defectors."
She continued, "In the past, former co-chair Park Ji-hyun and now lawmaker Park Yong-jin have continuously demanded that Leader Lee 'break up' with the 'Gaeddal,' but Leader Lee only pretends to be a 'mediator,'" and criticized, "Far from 'breaking up' with the 'Gaeddal,' Leader Lee is using them to achieve his political goals, causing the Democratic Party's clock to run backward repeatedly."
