China will significantly increase domestic and international flight operations starting from the 26th.

According to the state-run news agency Xinhua on the 25th, the Civil Aviation Administration of China announced the spring-autumn (March 26 to October 8) flight operation plan the day before, stating that international scheduled flights will increase to 6,772 flights per week, and domestic flights to 96,561 flights per week.

They plan to gradually resume 35 international routes, including regular routes such as Chengdu·Tianjin∼Incheon and Dalian∼Incheon·Gimpo·Busan.

Including cargo flights, the total number of international flights will reach 14,702 flights per week.

Compared to early last month when 795 passenger flights per week were operated to 58 countries, this is a significant increase, recovering to 70-80% of the pre-COVID-19 level.

After implementing the strict "Zero COVID" policy for three years following the outbreak of COVID-19, China had reduced international flights to about 300 per week at one point, but has gradually increased the number of flights since the easing of quarantine measures at the end of last year and the border reopening in January.

For domestic flights, 726 routes have been added, operating 6,659 flights per week, increasing the total number of flights to 96,561 per week.

Routes to Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan will also operate 3,463 flights per week, a 30.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Among these, flights to Hong Kong and Macau are 1,716 and 821 flights per week respectively, and flights to Taiwan are 926 per week.

A Civil Aviation Administration official said, "We will normalize domestic and international flight operations scientifically and orderly in response to the easing of quarantine measures and increased demand."
