On the afternoon of the 24th, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, took the 'On-site Mayor Bus' and visited Baekbeom-ro in front of Dongdo Middle School to ensure the safe commute of students.
Baekbeom-ro is a site where complaints have been received about the risk of safety accidents during the busy commuting hours due to many street facilities such as roadside trees and utility poles on the sidewalk.
Accordingly, Mayor Park Gang-su walked directly on the 2.5m wide sidewalk to assess the situation and held in-depth discussions on various ways to expand the Baekbeom-ro sidewalk.
Mayor Park said, “Baekbeom-ro is not wide, and there are four other schools nearby besides Dongdo Middle School, so it is necessary to secure a safe commuting path for students,” adding, “Consider the budget and opinions of nearby residents from various angles and proceed with the most rational and effective plan,” urging the officials.
Afterwards, Mayor Park moved to Mangwon Retention Basin to check the condition of the aging futsal and small soccer fields and discussed improvement plans, as well as reviewed plans for the establishment of a children's sports center and a park golf course.
