Gimhae City Prohibits Overnight Street Parking for Large Cargo and Charter Buses!

Operation Suspension or Fine Imposed Upon Investigation and Crackdown Detection

Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province is launching a focused crackdown on overnight parking outside designated garages for large commercial cargo and passenger vehicles.

According to the city on the 24th, the crackdown targets large vehicles such as commercial cargo trucks over 1.5 tons and charter buses that park overnight outside their designated garages.

Violating vehicles will face suspension of operation or fines.

For operation suspension, the penalties are ▲5 days for cargo trucks ▲3 days for charter buses, and fines are ▲200,000 KRW for general cargo trucks ▲100,000 KRW for private cargo trucks ▲200,000 KRW for charter buses.

The city plans to form two inspection teams to continuously conduct guidance and surprise inspections throughout the year, focusing on areas with frequent complaints.

According to a city official, Gimhae City requires commercial cargo and passenger vehicles parking for more than one hour between midnight and 4 a.m. to park only at the transport operator’s garage, other transport operators’ garages, public garages, cargo truck rest areas, or cargo terminals.

Illegal parking of large vehicles frequently occurs near apartment and residential complexes, roadsides, parks, and development district housing areas, causing complaints about accident risks, traffic inconvenience, parking difficulties, noise, and pollution.

In the first quarter of this year, the city detected 607 vehicles parking overnight outside designated garages and provided guidance, completing administrative actions against 126 of them.

The head of the city’s Transportation Innovation Division said, “We will conduct frequent inspections until the end of the year to resolve residents’ inconveniences and establish an advanced traffic culture,” adding, “We hope that cargo truck owners, operating corporations, and related parties will actively cooperate.”
