This agreement was promoted with the purpose of establishing a stable supply base for foreign skilled workers to resolve the manpower shortage in the Jeonnam shipbuilding industry due to the recent surge in ship orders, as emphasized by Mokpo National University President Song Ha-cheol.

Attendees of the agreement signing included Mokpo National University President Song Ha-cheol, Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Innovation Platform Future Transportation Equipment Development Project Group Deputy Director Ha Sol, Jeonnam Daebul Industry-Academia Convergence Institute Center Director Noh Seong-ho, KAMPUH WELDING INDONESIA Center Director Moch Moenir, Daebul Business Association President Choi Hong-sik (Shinwoo Industry), and ITS Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Professor WASIS.

KAMPUH WELDING INDONESIA receives technical support from the prestigious ITS University’s Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering in Indonesia and serves as a specialized overseas dispatch institution for shipbuilding in Indonesia as well as advanced shipbuilding countries.

Choi Hong-sik, President of the Daebul Industrial Complex Business Association who visited the center, stated, “This center is linked with Indonesian national universities and is equipped with the latest welding equipment and highly specialized curricula. It is capable of training specialized personnel in fitting and painting, which are the most severe manpower shortage areas, and will greatly contribute to the manpower supply of the Jeonnam shipbuilding industry.”

President Song Ha-cheol said, “Starting with this MOU, we plan to thoroughly identify the demand for foreign labor in Jeonnam shipbuilding companies and provide not only production technology education but also Korean language education in advance, so that as a regional national university, we can supply the workforce needed by local companies in a timely manner.”

According to this agreement, the Jeonnam Daebul Industry-Academia Convergence Institute will identify the demand for specialized skilled workers in the Jeonnam shipbuilding and marine industry. Based on this supply plan, KAMPUH WELDING INDONESIA, together with ITS University, will train specialized skilled workers in the relevant fields and dispatch them to Korea, while Mokpo National University will provide Korean language education and related technical education programs.
