Jungjingong Designated as Dedicated Agency for Public Offering Projects
Promoting in Connection with Regional Industry Growth Projects
The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 26th that it is recruiting local governments to participate in the '2024 Regional Small Business Innovation Public Contest Project to Respond to Local Extinction.'
SBC is the dedicated agency for the regional small business innovation public contest project, which is being promoted in collaboration with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. A total of 13 local governments will be recruited to carry out tasks linked to the regional industry growth project.
Since 2021, the SBC regional industry growth project has formed regional consultative bodies involving local governments, local SME offices, SBC, and related organizations, providing participating companies with linked support such as policy funds, export, and technology commercialization.
The contest targets 107 basic local governments classified as population decline areas (89) and areas of interest (18), as well as 13 metropolitan local governments overseeing these regions. A key feature of this contest is that it is autonomously led by local governments rather than centrally driven by government ministries. Local governments can plan and submit projects that link the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Local Extinction Response Fund with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ regional small business development projects.
Selected local governments will receive preferential scores when the Ministry of the Interior and Safety allocates the '2024 Local Extinction Response Fund' and can also receive additional support from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ regional projects. Furthermore, SBC will provide planning and consulting related to small business linkage support to the selected local governments and will promote the regional industry growth project in connection.
Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC, stated, "The best policy to respond to local extinction is job creation through attracting businesses," adding, "SBC will do its best to actively promote the regional industry growth project with local governments to contribute to regional-centered growth and balanced development."
