GS Engineering & Construction announced on the 24th that it will participate in the world's largest global Earth Hour campaign to turn off lights for the environment.
Earth Hour is the world's largest climate crisis response campaign organized by the nonprofit nature conservation organization World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Since 2007, it has been held every year on the last Saturday of March, turning off lights for one hour from 8:30 PM.
In the 17th event this year, GS E&C's headquarters 'Grand Seoul' located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, will hold a lights-off event for one hour starting at 8:30 PM on the 25th. GS Tower, GS Gangseo Tower, and Parnas Hotel, where GS Group and its affiliates are located, will also participate.
A GS E&C official said, "Through participating in Earth Hour, we will actively engage in eco-friendly campaigns such as climate change policies, energy saving, and carbon emission reduction," adding, "In the era of ESG, we will strive to lead the industry in the eco-friendly sector."
Meanwhile, GS E&C was certified as a representative eco-friendly construction company by receiving an integrated grade of 'A (Excellent)' in the '2022 Listed Companies ESG Evaluation' announced by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) last year. It received the integrated grade A for four consecutive years since 2019.
