On the 23rd, Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 24th that it conducted capacity-building training for about 30 members of the Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group in the city hall's small conference room.
The training was held under the theme "The Role of the Citizen Participation Group in Creating a Women-Friendly City," consisting of lectures on the meaning of a women-friendly city, the roles of the citizen participation group, and examples of their activities. After the lecture, discussions were held to establish activity plans by division.

The citizen participation group members attending the training were selected through a recent open recruitment totaling 30 people. They perform the role of partners in the women-friendly city creation project with Namwon City, including monitoring various aspects of the local community environment, proposing policies, and promotional activities to spread a women-friendly local culture.
The citizen participation group plans to carry out various women-friendly city creation activities to make the city safe and livable for socially vulnerable groups such as women, children, the disabled, and the elderly, starting with on-site monitoring of the local living environment.
Mayor Choi Kyung-sik said, "The role of the citizen participation group is more important than anything else in creating a women-friendly city," adding, "We will strive to activate the citizen participation group through capacity-building training and division-based operations."
