Lee Sang-ju, the council member who proposed the resolution, stated, "Jeollanam-do has the lowest medical utilization rate in the country due to a relatively poor medical environment compared to the high medical demand," and pointed out, "Shinan County, which has many island areas, has difficulties accessing comprehensive medical institutions due to poor accessibility from urban areas."
In this regard, he urged the "establishment of Mokpo National University College of Medicine and its affiliated hospital to eliminate medical blind spots, protect the health rights of Jeollanam-do residents, and build a regional medical system through fostering local talent."
The adopted resolution will be delivered to related organizations and local governments, including the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
