Installed on the ceiling in front of the house... Caught during collection
Urine traces on the window frame as well... "Shocking and humiliating"
A man who secretly installed a camera in front of a woman living alone and spied on her was caught by the police. The man was revealed to be a senior colleague of the woman, a doctor at a university hospital.
On the 24th, the Iksan Police Station in Jeonbuk announced that they are investigating a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on charges of violating the Stalking Crime Punishment Act and attempted trespassing, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Mr. A is suspected of installing a small camera in front of the apartment door of a woman in her 20s, Ms. B, around 5 a.m. on the 12th, and attempting to break in by pressing the door lock password.
Regarding the situation at the time, Ms. B told SBS that there was an 'X' mark and a black object attached to the ceiling in front of the door, which had not been there before, and said, "At first, I thought it was installed by the management office."
However, shortly after, she heard someone pressing the door password and went out to check, but there was no one there, and the object on the ceiling was also gone. Ms. B explained, "I was scared and looked around. Then, the object (camera) I saw in the morning was found fallen on the ground."
She immediately reported it to the police and installed a security CCTV in front of the door, and suspicious footage was captured that night. The video showed a man wearing a hooded cap covering his face pacing back and forth in front of Ms. B’s door and standing there for a long time.
It was also reported that urine was sprayed on Ms. B’s window frame. Ms. B said, "It was very shocking and humiliating."
The building has only one entrance, so if the man had entered from outside, he should have been caught on the lobby CCTV, but no man with the same appearance was identified.
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that the man was Mr. A, who was caught retrieving the small camera he had installed. The investigation revealed that Mr. A was a senior doctor working at the same hospital as Ms. B and was living in the same apartment complex.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I did it because of personal affection." The police have issued a temporary measure banning Mr. A from approaching Ms. B and are conducting a thorough investigation into the exact circumstances.
