U.S. President Joe Biden's approval rating has recently turned downward amid growing concerns over bank risks triggered by the Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) crisis.
According to a survey released on the 23rd (local time) by the Associated Press and the University of Chicago's National Opinion Research Center (NORC), President Biden's job approval rating was recorded at 38%. This figure is close to the lowest point of 36% recorded in the same survey last July.
Biden's approval rating had shown an upward trend this year, maintaining the 40% range with 41% in January and 45% in February, but it has turned downward following the recent SVB incident.
In this survey, only 31% of respondents expressed support for President Biden's economic policies. Only a quarter of the respondents said the U.S. economy is in good shape and moving in the right direction.
Among Democratic supporters, 76% of respondents said they approve of President Biden's job performance. Regarding economic policies, 63% expressed support.
This survey was conducted from the 16th to the 20th, immediately after the SVB crisis, targeting 1,081 American adults.
In a Monmouth University survey released on the 21st, President Biden's approval rating was 41%, down 2 percentage points from the previous January survey (43%).
