Busan Gijang-gun Appoints 'Policy Promotion Honorary Supporters'

Busan Gijang-gun held an appointment ceremony on the 22nd for the ‘Policy Promotion Honorary Supporters,’ who serve as a bridge between residents and administrative agencies to promote resident-centered county administration.

The ‘Policy Promotion Honorary Supporters’ are unpaid honorary positions that actively reflect residents' needs in various county administration promotions. Five members were appointed through an open recruitment in February, and they will begin full-scale activities starting with this appointment ceremony.

The main roles of the honorary supporters include ▲gathering policies that residents want to know about ▲selecting priorities for policy promotion that residents want to be informed of ▲providing feedback on press releases to suggest directions for resident satisfaction in promotion ▲collecting other daily administrative information that residents want to know.

The honorary supporters meet residents directly in the field to listen to policies they want to know about or daily information of interest and relay this to the county’s public relations department. After consultation with the relevant department, promotional materials are prepared and distributed as press releases to media outlets, and promoted through official SNS and newsletters.

Jeong Jong-bok, the head of Gijang-gun, said, “No matter how good a policy is, if it does not communicate and resonate with residents, it is no different from a failed policy,” adding, “Through the operation of the honorary supporters, we will provide the right to know to residents and promote policies that communicate and resonate with them.”

At the end of last year, Gijang-gun conducted a ‘Gijang Residents’ Policy Demand Survey’ to use as basic data for drafting resident-tailored policies. Reflecting the survey results, which pointed out insufficient county administration promotion, the county is seeking various ways to revitalize county administration promotion.
