[Hipple Hot Item] Colorful Haribo Playground, a Popular Outing Spot for Kids and Parents

With the arrival of clear spring weather, more people are considering weekend spring outing spots. Especially for family outings including young children, the destinations are usually chosen based on the children's enjoyment, but sometimes adults also want to welcome spring by buying new clothes and taking time to shop for sports items they have been eyeing.

A place that satisfies both adults and children has appeared. Shinsegae Simon has created the Jelly Bear Hill 'Haribo Playground' at the Yeoju, Paju, and Siheung Premium Outlets. As part of an offline exhibition project in collaboration with the global confectionery brand Haribo, visitors can experience colorful large Haribo sculptures, balloons, limited edition goods, and the full range of Haribo products. Various experiential spaces with a theme park atmosphere have also been prepared.

On a weekend afternoon, I visited the Paju Premium Outlet. Seeing the colorful large Haribo hot air balloon balloons, sculptures, lights, and garland decorations set up in the central plaza pavilion naturally made me reach for my smartphone camera. According to Shinsegae Simon, the Paju Premium Outlet is designed with inspiration from famous American regional festivals, creating an exotic carnival vibe. Many family visitors on their weekend spring outing were taking commemorative photos with the 'Floating Haribo' on the fountain plaza water and other installations. Just then, a Haribo mascot appeared, instantly drawing a line of people wanting to take 'proof shots.' After receiving a warm greeting from the mascot, the children’s faces lit up with big smiles as they took photos together.

The longest line formed in front of the pop-up store where over 30 types of Haribo jelly and limited edition goods could be purchased. Family visitors picked out jelly one by one while waiting in line, filling their hands before heading to the checkout. Choosing a few jellies they rarely saw before, their hands soon became full. In addition, time-based roulette events and other activities captured the children’s attention. By late afternoon, the exhibition products in the main booth were almost sold out.

On social media (SNS) and other online platforms, visit proof shots, recommended places to go with children, and ways to enjoy the event are being shared. Since the event started this month, an average of 100,000 people per day visited the metropolitan area stores over three weekends. The number of parked cars increased by about 20% compared to the same period last year. On the Shinsegae Outlet application (app), participants in the 'My Own Jelly Gift - Making My Own Goldb?ren' event have a chance to win Haribo-related goods, jelly, exhibition tickets, and pop-up store discount coupons through a lottery.

The event continues through Family Month, which includes Children’s Day. It runs until May 14 not only in Paju but also at the Yeoju and Siheung Premium Outlets. The children’s reactions on-site have been better than expected, so if you are considering a family weekend outing as the weather warms up, this is a place worth adding to your list. Shopping for adults is a bonus.
