The yellow waves of yuchae flowers are in full bloom at the scenic agricultural complex in Homibando, Pohang.

On the 23rd, Pohang City held the 'Homibando Yuchae Flower Opening Ceremony' attended by Vice Mayor Kim Nam-il, City Council Vice Chairman Kim Il-man, Provincial Assemblyman Seo Seok-young, related agency officials, and farmers.

The event featured tastings of yuchae ice cream, yuchae hwajeon (flower pancakes), handcrafted barley beer, and stone octopus pizza, along with the opening ceremony of an agricultural specialty product experience and sales center established to revitalize scenic agriculture.

This place, where the fully bloomed yuchae flowers and the sea harmonize to create a magnificent view, attracts many tourists on weekends. About 30,000 visitors came to the experience, promotion, and food events held over two days on the 18th and 19th, ahead of the full opening.

From the 24th to the 26th, the '2023 Guryongpo Eoseoosige' crab festival, featuring daege, will be held for three days near Homigot in Guryongpo.

The festival at Guryongpo Gwamegi Cultural Street Ara Square will offer events where visitors can purchase daege and red daege at affordable prices, tasting events, and congratulatory performances by popular trot singers, promising to captivate attendees.

Near Guryongpo Ara Square are Pohang's representative tourist spots, including the Japanese House Street, a filming location of the popular drama 'When the Camellia Blooms,' the Gwamegi Culture Center, and the Homigot Millennium Memorial Hall, making it an ideal tourist course for families going on weekend outings.

Additionally, the healing road 'Homibando Coastal Trail,' which connects the coastline of Homibando to enjoy the scenic cliffs and the sound of waves while walking, and the 'Yeonorang Seonyeo Theme Park' in Donghae-myeon along the trail, are gaining popularity as tourist courses that relieve everyday stress.

Vice Mayor Kim Nam-il said, "Homibando can be called a coastal tourism hub where excellent natural scenery, historical and cultural resources, and various attractions and foods converge. I hope many tourists visit here on weekends to gain energy and take in the beauty of Pohang."

Pohang City is actively promoting the creation of the 'Homibando National Marine Garden' to play a pivotal role in the region's future economic growth by utilizing the abundant forest resources and coastal scenery of the Homibando area. The project aims to preserve and utilize the excellent marine ecosystem in the Homibando area by establishing marine ecology and educational spaces.
