The ceremony was attended by about 200 officials from Gwangju Metropolitan City, the Korea Meteorological Administration, and others, and proceeded in the order of national anthem, award presentation, commemorative speech, congratulatory speech, and invited performance.

Afterwards, they visited the Citizen's Forest area in Buk-gu and the Yeongsan Riverbank to conduct a cleanup activity.

As the local drought situation continues, the period from the 20th to the 24th has been designated as an intensive promotion period, during which a water-saving campaign will be jointly conducted with related organizations at major locations.

Jeong Seon-hwa, head of the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office, emphasized that “On the occasion of World Water Day, it is time to once again reflect on the importance of water, the source of life, and to accelerate changes in various ways to pass on the precious resources of the Yeongsan River and Seomjin River in our region cleanly and abundantly to future generations.”
