To ensure a stable entry into the local market, Goobne signed a master franchise agreement with a local company on the 14th of last month. Through this agreement, the Texas-based local company Dream Associates established Goobne USA Corporation to operate franchise businesses in Texas, and Goobne will receive monthly royalties from Goobne USA during the contract period.

Dream Associates, which established the local corporation, operates numerous bakeries and Japanese restaurants in Texas, and is expected to support Goobne’s stable global expansion based on its understanding of the local market. Through this agreement, the two companies plan to open additional stores targeting overseas consumers in key Texas cities such as Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and nearby small and medium-sized cities.

According to Goobne, Texas has a relatively high immigrant population, resulting in a diverse food culture, and there is strong demand for Korean food known as healthy cuisine alongside the Korean Wave. Having already introduced “oven-roasted chicken” that is not fried in oil in the domestic market and gained much love from health-conscious consumers, Goobne expects to demonstrate the same competitiveness in Texas.

Jung Tae-yong, CEO of GN Food, said, “Over the past 18 years, we have solidified our position as the master of oven-roasted dishes by showcasing various oven-cooked meals through 1,125 domestic stores,” adding, “Now, we will strive to promote the excellence of K-Chicken worldwide beyond Korea, using the North American market as a stepping stone.”

Meanwhile, Goobne currently operates 44 stores in 10 countries overseas, starting with the opening of a store in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong in 2014. It plans to open a total of 100 overseas stores by the end of this year.
