Samsung Electronics and Samsung Medison Participate in 'KIMES 2023'... Unveiling Latest AI Diagnostic Assistance Features

Held at COEX, Samseong-dong, Seoul from the 23rd to the 26th
Exhibition of Ultrasound Diagnostic Devices and Digital X-ray Equipment

Samsung Electronics and Samsung Medison will participate in the '38th International Medical Devices and Hospital Equipment Exhibition (KIMES)' held at COEX, Samseong-dong, Seoul, from the 23rd to the 26th, showcasing Samsung's latest medical devices and AI (artificial intelligence) diagnostic assistance features in large numbers.

At this exhibition, the full lineup of ultrasound diagnostic devices used in obstetrics and gynecology, radiology, internal medicine, orthopedics, and more will be displayed, along with a focus on digital X-rays enhanced with the latest cameras and AI technology to improve user convenience.

In the 'Ultrasound Zone,' premium ultrasound diagnostic devices 'HERA W10,' 'V8,' and the high-end 'V7' will be exhibited, introducing AI diagnostic assistance features.

'HeartAssist' automatically recognizes and measures adult and fetal heart images to improve examination accuracy, while 'BiometryAssist' and 'ViewAssist' measure fetal growth indicators and automatically add annotations, reducing repetitive measurement tasks and enhancing diagnostic convenience. 'NerveTrack,' which shows the location of nerves in real time during ultrasound scans, clearly distinguishes surrounding tissues and nerves, aiding in musculoskeletal disease diagnosis and safe procedures.

A very small-sized probe that reduces patient discomfort during prostate ultrasound examinations will be introduced for the first time at KIMES. Also showcased is the technology that displays liver fat percentage using 'TAI™,' a fatty liver ultrasound examination technology recognized as a 'new medical technology' by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute in September last year.

In the 'X-ray Zone,' the fixed X-ray device 'AccE GC85A,' equipped with the 'Vision Assist' function that sets X-ray exposure conditions according to the patient's body shape and accurately adjusts if the patient moves out of the shooting position, and the portable X-ray device 'AccE GM85,' which can be fully charged in 3 to 4 hours and can shoot for about 10 hours without additional charging, will be introduced.

The detector, which is 27% lighter than previous models, can be conveniently used when taken out for shooting in intensive care units or emergency rooms. To capture the entire spine or leg, multiple shots are usually needed to stitch images together, but a newly introduced large-area detector measuring 460mm in width and 1321mm in height allows image acquisition in a single shot. Using the large-area detector reduces radiation exposure and significantly shortens shooting time.

Samsung Electronics and Samsung Medison are promoting eco-friendly projects for their sustainability vision, 'Sustainable Daily Life,' utilizing recycled resin materials and recycled paper packaging instead of plastics used in product materials and packaging. The exhibition booth also applies recyclable paper-based display stands.

Yu Gyu-tae, Vice President and Head of Strategic Marketing Team of Samsung Electronics Medical Device Business Division and Samsung Medison Strategic Marketing Team, said, "Samsung plans to continue technological innovation so that AI diagnostic assistance features help both medical staff and patients achieve efficient and precise diagnoses," adding, "We will also continue our eco-friendly management."
