A total of 5 events will be held on the second Saturday of April, May, June, September, and October at Yangcheon Park this year, with 10% of sales proceeds donated
20 spots prioritized for teams participating with children, pilot operation of free used goods sharing booth
First market openings in April and August, pre-registration for 100 teams from March 28 to March 31
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gijae) announced plans to open the ‘Haewoori Sharing Market’ at Yangcheon Park on the second Saturday of every month starting in April to promote resource circulation and practice environmental care.
This year’s market schedule is planned for a total of 5 times on the second Saturdays of April 8, May, June, September, and October, excluding the peak summer and winter seasons. To ensure smooth operation of the first market in April, pre-registration for 100 teams wishing to sell goods will be held from March 28 to 31.
In particular, reflecting the high number of family participants, the district will prioritize 20 spots for teams accompanied by children starting this year and provide shade tents on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to sell goods can apply by visiting the district office or contacting the person in charge via email. Final selection results for sellers will be individually notified after April 3, and on the event day (April 8), sellers should prepare items for sale, mats, price tags, etc.
The market will handle items such as ▲daily necessities (children’s items, stationery, etc.) ▲clothing (clothes, shoes, etc.) ▲cultural goods (books, DVDs, etc.) ▲kitchenware, while food sales are prohibited.
As an eco-friendly market without disposable products, the district plans to actively encourage sellers and visitors to use paper shopping bags and reusable bags. Additionally, a ‘free used goods sharing booth’ proposed during the New Year’s work report meeting will be piloted at this market.
‘Haewoori Sharing Market’ is a place where residents become sellers themselves to sell daily necessities, clothing, books, and more that are no longer used at home at affordable prices. It is gaining attention as a learning space to practice resource saving and economic concepts. Since its inception in 2018, a total of 12 events have been held with participation from over 1,500 households, and it contributes to spreading a culture of sharing through a voluntary donation box that donates 10% of sales proceeds.
Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Haewoori Sharing Market not only encourages resource circulation and environmental protection but also serves as a communication space to learn economic concepts. We ask for the interest and participation of many residents.”
