On the 21st, On-site Visit to Complaints Regarding Renovation of Gaebong 1-dong Senior Center and Gocheok-dong Gukhwa Senior Center
District Mayor Mun Heon-il: “We will take more meticulous care so that the elderly can live comfortably”
Guro-gu (District Mayor Mun Heon-il) announced that on the 21st, Mayor Mun Heon-il visited Gaebong 1-dong Senior Center and Gocheok-dong Gukhwa Senior Center to inspect complaint sites and communicate with the elderly.
This visit to the senior centers was a follow-up action to complaints raised at the district’s New Year meeting in February.
About a month later, Mayor Mun personally visited the sites to listen to the voices of the elderly using the centers and thoroughly inspect the facilities.
The Gaebong 1-dong Senior Center was in a deteriorated state as the second-floor space, previously used as a workplace for disabled persons, was still being used as is.
After touring the facilities, Mayor Mun promised, “We will prioritize repairing electrical lighting related to safety and review the possibility of overall remodeling and renovation through a comprehensive diagnosis with experts, including insulation reinforcement.”
The Gocheok-dong Gukhwa Senior Center has been criticized for insufficient support as it falls within the redevelopment area of the Sanupin Apartment project.
Accordingly, based on the results of this visit, the district will do its best to support renovations such as interior wallpapering, lighting replacement, external waterproofing, and painting work.
So far, Guro-gu has carried out various support projects for senior centers that the elderly use regularly.
This year, the district plans to repair or replace old home appliances, exercise equipment, and health aids provided in all senior centers within the district.
District Mayor Mun Heon-il said, “Senior centers are places where the elderly spend most of their day,” adding, “Through remodeling and renovations, we will create a pleasant environment in the senior centers and take more meticulous care so that the elderly can live comfortably.”
