[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] On the 22nd, President Yoon Seok-yeol visited the Republic of Korea Army Counterintelligence Command and the Cyber Operations Command to receive a closed-door briefing.
During the Counterintelligence Command briefing, President Yoon stated, "Please devote all efforts to performing your fundamental duties, including actively engaging in counterintelligence activities," and added, "For our military to advance as a science and technology powerhouse, a solid military security posture must be established." He also said that, as the commander-in-chief, he would actively support the Counterintelligence Command's mission execution.
In the Cyber Operations Command briefing, he said, "To effectively respond to cyber threats that have no front or rear, the role of cyber operations units is more important than ever," and emphasized, "We must move away from a defensive concept focused on responding to enemy cyberattacks and develop a proactive and active operational concept."
Meanwhile, this is the first time in 31 years that a sitting president has visited the Counterintelligence Command. It is also the first time a president has visited the Cyber Operations Command to receive a briefing.
