Gwangju City has voiced the need for thorough preparation to not only attract the national future car industrial complex but also to be selected as a specialized complex for future car materials, parts, and equipment (hereafter referred to as Mo-Pu-Jang).
On the 22nd, Park Sugi, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, made this statement during a 5-minute speech at the city council plenary session.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is promoting an additional designation contest for Mo-Pu-Jang specialized complexes until the 12th of next month. Following the current five specialized complex fields such as semiconductors and secondary batteries, the designation contest for Mo-Pu-Jang specialized complexes in the bio and future car sectors has begun.
Councilor Park said, “The future car Mo-Pu-Jang specialized complex is a field that must be attracted as part of the task to advance and restructure Gwangju’s core industry, the automobile industry, into an eco-friendly future car industry alongside the establishment of the national future car industrial complex.” He added, “As part of the current government’s regional presidential election pledges, the establishment of a vehicle power semiconductor cluster and the creation of a future car Mo-Pu-Jang specialized complex have already been proposed.”
Park also stated, “With two complete vehicle production bases, the creation of an eco-friendly automobile parts cluster, the nation’s only eco-friendly automobile and parts certification center, a battery testing building, and autonomous driving technology demonstration, Gwangju has optimal conditions to build an eco-friendly automobile mother factory.” He urged, “To attract the future car Mo-Pu-Jang specialized complex, thorough preparation including differentiation strategies from other cities and provinces is necessary.”
