5 Billion Expansion... Rental Housing Provided for Returning Farmers and Rural Migrants
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been selected for the '2023 Rural Space Maintenance Project' contest hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing a total project budget of 5 billion KRW.
According to the county on the 22nd, the Rural Space Maintenance Project is a core initiative necessary for implementing rural spatial plans. It supports the demolition of harmful facilities within villages and the use of the maintained sites for creating rest areas and living facilities for village residents.

With this selection, the county will proceed with the demolition and regeneration of harmful facilities such as livestock barns and vacant houses located in the core preservation area within the Gudeuljangnon Agricultural Heritage District in Cheongsando, Wando.
The maintained space will be used to provide rental housing for returnees to farming and rural areas and restored Gudeuljangnon fields to create a foundational environment for farming activities.
Additionally, it will enable the establishment of a complex cultural facility and a World Agricultural Heritage Center, which are long-awaited projects by residents.
The project scale is a total of 5 billion KRW (2.5 billion KRW national funds, 750 million KRW provincial funds, and 1.75 billion KRW county funds), and the project period will be carried out over five years until 2027.
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, "Through this project, we will make Cheongsando a model case for the influx of returnees to farming and rural areas," adding, "We will restore and maintain traditional agriculture and cultural landscapes and promote tourism activation in connection with the Cheongsan Marine Healing Park, which is emerging as a healing destination."
