Busan Port Authority Operates Cargo Truck Parking Lot at Uam Pier

Busan Port Authority (BPA) will operate the Uam Pier Truck Parking Lot in the Uam-ro area of Nam-gu, Busan, starting from the 20th.

This parking lot covers an area of 32,864㎡ and can accommodate a total of 332 vehicles, including 210 trucks. It is equipped with restrooms and is open 24 hours a day.

The parking fee is set at 11,000 KRW per day, the same as the nearby 5 Mulberth parking lot. This rate was determined considering other parking fees such as 20,000 KRW at the International Passenger Terminal, 15,000 KRW at the Gamman Truck Rest Area, and 8,000 KRW at Busan City public garages.

The parking lot operates on a daily first-come, first-served basis without monthly parking to allow as many people as possible to use the limited space fairly.

According to BPA’s ‘Busan Port North Port Container Terminal Operation Efficiency Promotion Plan,’ the temporary truck parking lot at Gamman Pier was converted back to a container terminal function, and the Uam Pier, which was originally planned as a marine cluster site, was maximized and developed into a truck parking lot.

However, the operation period of this parking lot may change depending on circumstances such as the North Port redevelopment project and the bid for the 2030 Expo.

BPA has established truck parking lots and rest areas capable of accommodating a total of 3,302 vehicles around Busan Port to alleviate truck parking difficulties. As cargo volume gradually shifts to the New Port, BPA plans to continuously provide truck parking lots near the New Port.

Under the ‘Freight Truck Transportation Business Act,’ public garages provided for freight truck transportation businesses are to be established by mayors, district heads, public institutions, or local corporations.
